Chris Bishop has been Co-Principal Horn with the Johannesburg Philharmonic
Orchestra since 2007 and is Solo Horn with the dynamic chamber group the
Double O Ensemble, alongside the finest young professionals in South
Africa. Chris is an experienced teacher, ensemble and performance coach. He is
the Principal of the Cape Gate MIAGI Centre for Music
in Soweto and works regularly as Orchestra Manager for the MIAGI New Skool Orchestra.

Born in England, he gained his BA Music and MA Music Performance from the
University of Southampton and a Postgraduate Diploma at Trinity College of
Music, London. He has been taught by many of England's finest horn players and
has performed internationally, most notably as extra with the Royal
Philharmonic Orchestra, education performances with the Philharmonia Orchestra
and as guest principal with the European Union Chamber Orchestra.
As a versatile player, Chris has held the positions of solo horn with the
London Contemporary Music Group and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Great
Britain and has performed with many local and international artists.
In 2014 performances have included the Double O Ensemble's residency
for Peace Starts, a stadium performance with US rapper Nas and as a member of the
Joy of Jazz Orchestra accompanying Grammy Award-winning vocalist Gregory Porter.
